It was long long ago
When she was chained
From top to toe
Her children were enslaved
In barbarity that grew
Blood was oozing out
From North and South
From East and West
And they struggled
Until the atrocity was troubled
It was vigorously shaken
And the chains were broken
They fought with zeal
Until they could feel
Their last breathe
And just before their death
That last drop of blood
Dropped in glory and pride
To salute the mother
Who in agony cried;
She had lost her precious gems
And the nation salutes them
For their lives they gave away
For this freedom today
Though it was long ago
But with every year to go
We shall value their sacrifice
We shall fulfill their dream
In sovereignty and peace
The nation shall forever gleam!!
